Variant and engine
Be precise about acceptable variants (A319, A320, A321; ceo or neo) and engine types — CFM56 or V2500 on the ceo family, LEAP-1A or PW1100G on the neo. Engine choice affects maintenance economics, spares support and, for some operators, commonality with an existing fleet. It is often the first question an owner asks.
Maintenance status and records
Understand where the airframe, engines, landing gear and APU sit against their major checks, and confirm records are complete and in English. Time remaining to the next significant maintenance event materially affects both lease rate discussions and reserve arrangements.
Delivery condition and redelivery
Delivery condition expectations — and the redelivery conditions you will be held to years later — deserve as much attention as the rate. Redelivery disputes are among the most common and expensive friction points in narrow-body leasing; they are best prevented in the term sheet, not litigated at return.

Confirm seating configuration against your commercial plan, and establish who funds any reconfiguration, painting and branding, and on what timeline, before signing.
